Retina Artwork Bloats iPad Apps

What am I talking about? Bitmap images. When quadrupled in size to look nice on the hi-res screen, bitmaps bloat the apps containing them. For example, iMovie for iOS jumps from a merely large 70MB to a terrifying 404MB. That 16GB iPad is starting to look a little small, right?

Military-Grade iPhone Cases

The military-grade iPhone and iPod Touch cases called Survivor can withstand a lot of damage. The video below demonstrates how tough the case really is during drops, throws and rolls.

This case couldn’t withstand an explosion or even being run over with a vehicle but it should be plenty durable for navigating the urban jungle.

Survivor is built with shatter-resistant polycarbonate and shock absorbing silicone. The screen protector seals your Multi-Touch display and hinged plugs seal the ports and volume controls.

iPad Hesitation

I’ll be the first to say that I’m not an Apple fanboy but I was really intrigued by the new iPad. After watching this episode of Diggnation it soon became clear to me why I won’t be getting an iPad myself… until they resolve some major issues.

1) Allow multitasking
2) Stop banning applications that conflict with your built-in features (Micro$oft got sued for similar tactics?)
3) Quit overcharging for your brand name
